Shinerama then...

Shinerama began in 1964 as a simple shoe-shining fundraiser to encourage first-year students to meet new people and give back to their local community during orientation week. It has since grown to include a wide variety of community and campus-based events under the Shinerama banner.

Shinerama now...

Shinerama is Canada’s largest post-secondary fundraiser in support of Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Over 20,000 student volunteers from 36 Canadian universities and colleges come together every year to make a difference in the lives of those battling cystic fibrosis (CF).

To date, Shinerama has raised approximately $29 million for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Shinerama has become an institution on many campuses nationwide, playing a big part in the student experience. Student volunteers remain as dedicated as ever and are doing whatever it takes to raise crucial funds to fight cystic fibrosis.

Making Strides, Together!

The support from Shinerama schools and students over the past 57 years has been instrumental in advancing the battle against this devastating disease. We have advanced cystic fibrosis research and care that has more than doubled life expectancy for Canadians living with cystic fibrosis. We’ve contributed to the global body of CF knowledge, funding research achievements such as mapping the gene that causes cystic fibrosis, in 1989. And we’ve advanced access to life-changing CF medicines in Canada through relentless advocacy and government relations work.

Despite our remarkable progress together, we are not yet done. Not when a child born today with cystic fibrosis still has only a 50% chance of living to 54. We are pushing further! Register, fundraise or donate to Shinerama today to help Canadians living with CF live longer, healthier lives.
