What is an AGM?

An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a crucial event for any organization, including the Nipissing University Student Union. It serves as a yearly gathering where members, typically comprised of students and stakeholders, come together to discuss and make important decisions regarding the organization's activities and future direction. During an AGM, various key elements are typically addressed, such as reviewing the past year's achievements and financial reports, electing or appointing new Executives or Directors, amending the organization's constitution or By-Laws, and providing a platform for members to voice their concerns and ideas. The AGM is a fundamental part of the democratic process within the student union, ensuring transparency, accountability, and active participation of its members in shaping the organization's priorities and initiatives. It is an opportunity for students to actively engage in the governance of the University and contribute to its continued success.

The AGM is one of the most important events that the student union holds, and we encourage all students to attend every year – it’s your right.
